As a Senior Actuary, you will play a crucial role in reviewing the work done by junior colleagues on pension actuarial matters, including valuations, accounting, GMP equalization, and individual member calculations.
provide valuable support to the Scrutineer/Actuary on technical calculations and project management to deliver outstanding results to our end clients.
Job Responsibilities:
- Actuarial Calculations: Review and assess actuarial calculations, including funding updates, accounting disclosures, GMP equalization, and member queries
- Utilize actuarial software and tools to perform valuations and projections
- Process and Compliance: Drive the use of various processes, templates, precedents, and compliance guidelines, serving as a competent checker to ensure accuracy
- Technical Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of the wider context and the primary drivers of technical calculations, with a focus on defined benefit plans/schemes and regulatory environments
- Learning and Development: Contribute to the maintenance and creation of learning resources for the team, share best practices, and assist in updating training materials. Actively participate in training and mentoring junior colleagues
- Collaboration: Work effectively in a team, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, and act as a role model for junior colleagues.
- Coach new analysts on professional conduct and work ethics
Skills Required:
- Logical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Excel and Word
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
- A strong commitment to teamwork and the ability to collaborate effectively
- Demonstrated professionalism and ethics as a role model for junior colleagues
